Commencement 2016!

This year we have had the privilege to provide sound for a few graduation ceremonies. It is an honor to be a part of these events! We love providing high quality audio for important events. Our new sound system is perfect for these events. We were able to feature our new d&b audiotechnik  V7p loudspeakers with our custom truss mounting system. The truss mounting system allows us to offer a very clean look for these kinds of corporate and important events. We are also capable of controlling our soundboard wirelessly with an iPad. This makes for an incredibly clean looking setup.

But don't take our word for it, here's what the client had to say:

"Hello, the invoice has just been paid. I thought the sound was superb this year. I really liked how the engineer automated the system with his iPad. Same for next year, Thanks!"

Check out our setup for the Georgia State University graduation:

Sierra Nevada Employee Holiday Party

Back in December, We were happy to be a part of the Sierra Nevada employee holiday party. The event took place inside their amazing facility. It was spread through out multiple rooms and hallways. We hung Cafe Lights, used uplighting and pinspots. We also provided a stage and audio for the Jazz band. Employees enjoyed an amazing cheese buffet and, of course, free beer. We highlighted the cheese buffet with our wireless pinspots.

Drag Queen Bingo!

We were very excited to be a part of this fundraiser! Brother Wolf Animal Rescue is a No Kill organization based in Asheville. Founded in 2007, they provide resources and life saving programs to build a No Kill community. As a grassroots organization, Brother Wolf operates a one-of-a-kind adoption center that is open to the public 365 days a year making it easy to adopt, volunteer, and become involved in their No Kill mission. Check out their volunteer page and get involved!

Drag Queen Bingo is a Valentine's themed event held at the US Cellular Center with entertainment by drag queens, aerial performers, hoopers and lots of Bingo! We provided HD video projection with a 24' video screen, truss with uplighting and moving light projections. We also provided a small sound system and uplighting for the entry lobby.

Check out the slideshow and be sure to get your tickets early next year, as we expect it to sell out again! Special thanks to the photographer Camilla Calnan!

Welcome, Baby Coin!

We were happy to work with Party Envy Event Planning and Floral Design on this wonderful baby shower! Michelle is one of our favorite event planners in the Asheville area. She does a fantastic job with her event and floral designs. This one took place at the Capital Club in downtown Asheville. The Capital Club is an awesome event venue with an amazing panoramic view!

We are usually involved with weddings and corporate events, so it was a nice change of pace and an honor to help welcome baby Coin into the world!

The Capital Club is already a great venue for a party, but when you add lighting it becomes almost magical. The contrast between sunset over the mountains and the lighting in the room coming into focus can be breathtaking. Pinspots and uplighting are the main ingredients in lighting design for great events. We used purple uplighting to color the walls inside and the columns outside on the balcony. Our wireless pinspots were prefect for highlighting the floral pieces.

In the following pictures, be sure to notice the amazing view and the wonderful job done by Party Envy on the event design and floral arrangements.

Pinspots and Uplighting: Tails at Twilight

Tails-at-twilight-asheville-flyer

Last week we were proud to be a part of the Asheville Humane Societies "Taste of Compasion: Tails at Twilight".  The Asheville Humane Society has been saving homeless animals for over 30 years.

Animal lovers gathered to enjoy the gala at the Morris Hellenic Culture Center in the Montford Historic District of Asheville. Over one hundred items up for silent auction. There were also live auctions which  included a 2016 Subaru Outback from Prestige Subaru!

Attendees enjoyed live music from the Bruce Lang Band, featuring vocalist Maddy Winer. Wine was provided by Mutual Distributing, Local craft beer by Highland Brewing Company and Oskar Blues Brewing. Hors d'oeuvres and desserts were provided by Strada italiano, Greenlife, Travinia and Valet Gourmet.

VIPs were treated to a special custom truffle bar by French Broad Chocolates!

The Cultural Center has a basic event space that definitely needed some help to liven up the party. We started with uplighting on the walls, using a light blue to match the theme.  This allowed us to turn off the florescent lighting- nothing kills a party like florescent lighting, yuck!  Adding some white uplighting on the column decorations really added some depth to the room.  With all the lights dimmed we needed some special lighting on the food and the truffle bar. Our wireless pinspots are perfect for the job. Below, you can see the before and after pictures of the truffle bar.

The difference is astounding! As you can see, a little uplighting and some pinspots can create such a wonderful ambiance.  Here are some before and after photos of the VIP Lounge where this truffle bar was located.

We really enjoyed enhancing the room for this event, check out the rest of the pictures below!

Habitat for Humanity House Mixer

In October we were lucky to be a part of the Haywood County Chamber of Commerce House Mixer at the Frog Level Brewing Company in Waynesville, NC.  The Haywood Habitat - House Mixer is an annual event to benefit programs of Haywood Habitat for Humanity. These programs include the building of safe and affordable homes for qualifying Haywood County families. Tickets to the event were $35 and include food and drinks as well as live and silent auctions.

If you haven't been to Frog Level Brewing, you should check it out as soon as you can. Located in the Frog Level district of Waynesville, they brew their own beer and offer it up in a great atmosphere. Get yourself a pint, my favorite is the "Nutty Brunette", and enjoy it out on the back deck or down by the creek.

Frog Level Brewing is a great venue to host an event and an event better place to showcase some lighting! Inside, we were able to warm up the atmosphere with some cafe lights. We then added some amber and pink uplighting on the brick walls. Brick walls are one of the best canvases for uplighting because the texture takes light really well. The silent auction took place near the entrance, and was a little on the dark side, the perfect situation for pinspots. After adding pinspots on the these tables we were ready to head outside.

Out back by the creek there are trees ripe for uplighting. Like inside, they chose amber and pink uplighting. As the sun went down, and the party moved outside, the trees came to life. Chamber members enjoyed pints by the creek under a canopy of light.

It's not a party without the lights!

If you're planning a party this holiday season, don't forget the most important part - Ambiance. Lighting really ties the room together. Something as simple as dimming the lights and adding some pinspots over the buffet can completely change the mood of your party. Cafe lights are another great way to create a warm atmosphere for your party during the colder months of the year. Uplighting is always a good choice and one of the most cost effective ways to delight your guests. We offer a basic uplighting packages starting at $250. You can choose any color or color combinations and we supply a tablet for you to easily change colors as you wish. We can also have a technician on site who is available to make these changes for you.

We also offer mobile sound systems for your holiday party. We supply everything you need, just bring your iPod and plug in. Wireless microphones are also available. And if your crazy Uncle Larry wants to break out his guitar and lead a sing along, we've got you covered.

Have a look at some pictures from last years d&b audiotechnik holiday party. The company party was held at The Venue, located on North Market Street in downtown Asheville. The Venue is known for hosting weddings and corporate events. It is a great space to have an event. The second floor balcony is a great area for having cocktails while overlooking the cobblestones on North Market Street. We had the pleasure of providing uplighting, pinspots and a sound system. All they had to do was bring an iPod with their favorite music and their party hats!

A night at the Grand Bohemian in Asheville

Welcome to our blog! We would like to take you back in time to one of our favorite weddings at one of our favorite Asheville wedding venues.

Grand-bohemian-wedding-lighting-1

In the heart of  Biltmore Village, The Grand Bohemian Hotel is one of Asheville's finest wedding venues. The ballroom is like no other, which features crystal chandeliers and a beautiful Bosendorfer piano.

We worked with the bride, Ania and her wedding planner Candace from Mingle Events, to create a stunning environment for the reception. Ania emailed me a picture of a previous event in the ballroom of the Grand Bohemian asking if we could recreate the look. I immediately recognized the picture as it was from an event that I had designed a few years back for the "Get Married" magazine show at the Grand Bohemian. It was exciting to have someone show me my own work and ask to recreate it...no problem!

We highlighted the columns in the ballroom with pink uplighting. For some contrast, we made the chandeliers glow with an amber hue. By using wireless LED lights, we were able to hang these lights from the ceiling without using any cabling that would have taken away from the wonderful architecture. We used LED pinspots to highlight the wedding cake, which helped it stand out against the uplighting.

Please enjoy these images!
